Growing up as a young Baptist boy was a delightful experience. We (the Baptists) are known as the “people of the Word” and so we are. As a Sunbeam member, there were memory verses that they expected us to know and commit to our memory, which varied from one age group to the other. That applies to other units too.  When I became “born again,” a Bible passage that I have quoted over and over made more meaning to me, and it developed into a deeper hunger for another depth of God through relationship. Romans 8:14 says, “For those who are LED by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” (NIV) The Greek translation of the word translated “led” as used there, means to guide, drive, lead, pilot, instruct, conduct. Then, it became more apparent to me that one mark of being a child of God is that God is the one leading, guiding, driving, piloting, instructing, and conducting the affairs of my life. I know that could be your experience too when you became born again. It’s a serious thing....

You are responsible for your blessings. Of all the art of giving, tithing is one that has become so problematic for people to the extent that it becomes a burden, even to some who pay it. This is a glimpse into what was in the mind of God when He commanded it, and what we stand to gain as generations evolve. Malachi 3:9-10 says, "A curse is on all of you because the whole nation is cheating me. BRING THE FULL AMOUNT OF YOUR TITHES TO THE TEMPLE, so that there will be plenty of food there. Put me to the test and you will see that I will open the windows of heaven and pour out on you in abundance all kinds of good things. (GNB) What is so important about tithe paying? Falling into temptation does not leave your life the same way.

Making a god of yourself out of a position will compel you to seek appraisal rather than achievement and good deed. 

Corrections made, or help rendered out of pride and or despisal has tendencies to be ineffective or unappreciated.
